I listened to McMental's speech to The Brethren yesterday- whew.
There's something about that delivery- the droning, error-strewn pomposity, those fake statistics extrapolated from guesswork; my brain stops working and I suffer from a something akin to mental tinnitus where language is pushed through some sort of William Burroughs-derived sieve.
So here are my personal highlights from McMental's "Song Of The Doomed"-
"750,000 tractors lifted out of poverty between 2002 and 2005 . . .
3 billion children exported to the Third World, ensuring prosperity and free dental care for newly-qualified midwives . . .
3,000 anacondas cleared from playgrounds and similar newly-created public spaces and relocated to schools and hospitals, thereby reducing waiting-lists . . .
The existing debt which had to be paid off by the incoming New Labour government in 1997 . . ."
Hang on a minute, he actually said that last bit, didn't he? Lying bastard.

Damn, that post title made me think for a split second you'd be linking to the song of the same name by the greatest band of all time but no, it was a reminder of that woeful speech from Yesterday....bugger! Still, it seems to have gone well for him, hasn't it? ;)

It's always the same . . ."
